Culinary EGGS-perience: No Eggs Allowed Challenge

CHEFS! The season’s over and it’s time for us to have a bit of fun while eggs-ploring and supporting a more sustainable galley.

Our Faceless Crew and Small Vegan Kitchen are hosting an ‘eggs-citing’ challenge for yacht chefs, crew cooks, and even sole stewardesses…anyone who’s up for a good “DARE YA!!”. Fancy having your dish featured in our upcoming chef’s cookbook? It will be, so don’t be afraid to go all out to show your skills. 

 

The challenge?

Recreate an egg-based, dairy-free dish using any egg alternative of your choice! It’s that simple.  

Here’s how to enter:

1. Choose Your Egg Alternative:

Select any egg substitute you prefer—whether it’s flaxseed, aquafaba, chia seeds, tofu, or something totally unique! The sky’s the limit!

2. Create your dish:

Cook or bake any dish that traditionally requires eggs. It could be a classic like scrambled eggs, pancakes, frittatas, or even something as creative as vegan quiche. Be creative! Even think outside the box (pun intended).

3. Capture Your Creation:

Take a photo of your final dish. We’d love if you would also submit a video of yourself cooking or plating it (optional but highly encouraged!).

4. Submit Your Entry:

  • Email your photo and/or video to us. Videos and photos must be sent via email or WeTransfer to both smallvegankitchen@gmail.com and community@ourfacelesscrew.com.
  • Include your recipe and the name of the egg alternative used.
  • Add your name, the yacht you’re on (if you can say the yacht’s name) and a few lines about yourself and why you chose that particular egg alternative.

 

Judging Criteria:

The judging will be done by Small Vegan Kitchen, based on:

  • CREATIVITY: How innovative is your dish and choice of egg alternative?
  • PRESENTATION: How delicious does it look?
  • NUTRITION: Does it pack a punch?

 ** Added bonus: get a crew member ( or more) to taste and review your dish. Send in their review, whether good, bad or ‘eggs-tremely’ funny.



Submission Deadline
: All entries must be received by 25th October

Winner Announcement:

The winner will be publicly announced on our social media channels, LinkedIn and via email on 31st October, 2024. The challenge is open to professional yacht chefs, private chefs, crew cooks and sole stewardesses. The dish MUST use an egg alternative—no real eggs allowed!
